The villages of Letham and Monilail are small hamlets in North East Fife about 4 miles to the west of Cupar. They are about 25 minutes form Dundee, 35 minutes form Perth and 60 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh.

Letham village currently has a population of about 150 a primary school and excellent public transport links to nearby Cupar, Edinburgh, Dundee and the rail network at Ladybank. The village is located to the North of the Howe of Fife, a sand and gravel bank formed during the last ice age. The heart of the old village is approached by a row of 18th and 19th century cottages which contributes to the villages special architectural heritage. Sand and gravel are extracted from the nearby Mountcastle Quarry. Monimail, a mile west of Letham, is a smaller settlement which boasts the magnificent Monimail Tower and Melville House.
