  1. Minutes of Previous Meeting : minutes of the meeting 11/06/07 were accepted

  1. Matters Arising :

While this is good news it was commented that the speeds through the Toll Junction are higher so surely similar should be installed there? It was pointed out that the two roads in question come under the responsibility of different bodies – Bow of fife will come from the Fife Council budget whereas the main road to Dundee through the Toll Junction would be BEAR

Recycling Centre: Nothing to report

Awaiting a response from BEAR regarding a representative coming to a future meeting, preferably the October 07 meeting

5. Treasurer’s Report :

The account balance stands at just over £1006. We have spent £236 from this years’ Floral Enhancement Grant on tubs in Letham and also Monimail and Bow of Fife as well as work at the beds in front of the Hall.

No notice of the recurring “per capita” grant we receive from Fife Council – J Vaughan to write to Fife Council (contact – Mike Melville, Law & Admin)

6. Planning :

Letham Farm/Paddock Area (across from Letham Lands) :

current status for this application is at the “Pending Consideration” stage. Nothing else to report

Steadings, Letham Farm (2 houses) :

application with drawings has been submitted for the two houses down the back of The Row. Concerns from the floor regarding the height of the houses although it was felt unlikely they would be seen from The Row itself. Main area for concern in the potential traffic congestion in this area with the proposed parking/turning areas totally insufficient for the two vehicles indicated. There are also garages down in this area so there is no possibility of parking in front of either house.

Delivery of services and drainage are also a concern

Tree Preservation Orders – no update. Cllr Arbuckle to chase

7. Jimmy Stewart Memorial : The seat mentioned at the last meeting has been purchased and will need some slight alterations to the legs in order for it to be sited around the Well Tree. The seat itself isn’t galvanised so it will need to be maintained every two years at the very least.

A plaque (preferably Brass) will be sited beside the seat and Matthew Kidd is to discuss the wording with Mr Stewart’s family.

8. Village Hall Report

The AGM was held 2 weeks ago with poor turnout from members of the Community. The same Committee was re-elected, along with a representative from the Secret Garden project. The Hall has now been painted inside and have received a donation of the table lamps used at Ivor Lloyd’s daughter’s wedding – thanks go to them for this.

The monthly Coffee Mornings are due to start up again at the start up again from the 3rd Saturday in September and then the 3rd Saturday each month thereafter.

Over the next few months there are plans to have :

Quiz Night

Cookery Demo

Whisky Tasting

9. Best Kept Village

We have had absolutely no correspondence this year regarding how we fared. Cllr Arbuckle said there have been a number of complaints from other areas about the lack of prior notification.

Apparently Craigrothie have their beds planted out by Fife Council – why doesn’t this happen for Letham?

It was suggested we ask the Parks Department to come out and see what can be done and get some assistance with.

It is still a major problem getting volunteers to water the various tubs/beds.

10. Questions for Cllr Arbuckle

  1. The Row needs trimming – hedge due to be trimmed very soon

  2. Monimail Cemetry – gate/fence has still not been attended to – Cllr Arbuckle to follow this up

  3. Flooding – there appears to be an overflow of sewage into the small burn that runs along side the Bow Rd. (beside the farm gate). To be brought to the Council’s attention

  1. Community Council Election : October 07

Nomination Papers will be available very soon for the forthcoming Community Council Elections

  1. Any Other Business
