6th November 2005- New Community Calendar

There is now a community calendar on the site which can be accessed by clicking the bottom button on the left (or by clicking here).

The intention is that anybody can post an event on the calendar which might be of interest to the community. It could be a social night, notification of a fireworks display, school holidays (some roads don't get gritted on school holidays) church events or even bin day! It' s there for everyone to use and is really simple. Any questions contact me and I'll talk you through.

14th October 2005- A92 Bus shelters

In response to my recent email, Fife Council have been in touch to advise me that the two A92 shelters are being replaced this winter (January -ish). They have taken on board our comments and will take the opportunity to site the new shelter on the north side, further back from the road. I'd suggest any suggestions for the other bus stop be made to the council ASAP before they go to the design stage.

8th August 2005- Help with website

If anyone is able to help me with this website I would be very grateful. You do not require any technical skills- I'll take care of that side of things. I'm looking for people who would be prepared to submit some typed material for inclusion- whether it be a news article or a bit of local history. I'm also looking to get as many local photographs as possible past and present. Email them, post them or drop them in and I'll put them on the site.

4th November 2005- Roll of Rememberance

I'd like to post a roll of rememberance on this site in honour of those who died in the wars of the 20th Century. Does anyone know where I can get hold of such a list?

If so please contact me.

1st October 2005- A92 Junction improvement??

During correspondance with Fife Police, it has emerged that BEAR Scotland have submitted some kind of junction improvement proposals to the Scottish Executive.

In Geoffrey Balshaw's email of 20th October 2005 he writes,

" I am also aware that BEAR Scotland are submitting proposals to the Scottish Executive to alter and improve the shape of this area which should address at least some of the safety issues, including not having to come to a virtual standstill on the main road to turn left."

I have asked BEAR for more details, and have encoraged them to refer to this site to see some of the issues we are concerned about. They are to discuss the matter with the Scottish Executive and get back to me.

Stay tuned for more details!

11th October 2005- Winter Gritting programme

Fife Council have just published their Winter gritting policy. Effectively all school bus routes (Priority 2) will be gritted if required on school days. The Community Council through Councillor Arbuckle have written to the Roads Department to ensure that School Brae is included in this schedule.

6th August 2005- Response from Fife Council re housing development opposite the Row.

Dear Dave Hamilton

Proposed Housing Development at The Row Letham

Thank you for your e-mail.

May I reassure you that the proposed housing at The Row Letham has no planning status. Currently the land is zoned 'countryside' and AGLV (Area of Great Landscape Value) in the adopted Tay Coast Local Plan.
The proposal was not included in the new Consultative Draft Local Plan for St Andrews and East Fife. That decision will be re-assessed during
the preparation of the Finalised Draft Local Plan.

Your comments have been placed on file, reference 03 LET 001, and will be taken into account.

Best wishes

Cathy Kinnear
